Spittal–Peterhead Rattray Head / Crimond NKT Cable Landfall

Under construction

The Rattray Head landfall north of Peterhead serves the 2 GW Spittal–Peterhead cable, connecting onward to Netherton near Longside. NKT is the cable contractor; Nicol of Skene carries out local works. SSEN confirmed 1.7 km landfall HDD drilling underway in July 2026. This is distinct from EGL2’s Sandford Bay landfall.

What this link contributes

This asset provides a route for electricity to move between networks or strengthens the network carrying that electricity. Its capacity cannot be added to wind, solar or power-station capacity as though it were another generator.

Spittal Peterhead

Converter stations, cable manufacture, offshore installation, landfall works and grid energisation can progress at different times. The status above describes the documented project stage rather than assuming all work packages are complete.

Project location

This is a component of its parent project. Dashed circles show an approximate area only; the exact component position is not verified.

Markers identify sites, published points or labelled connection areas. Markers are not site boundaries or entrances. EGL2’s additional outlines and route layers are explicitly identified in the developer’s map data.
