EGL2 Sandford Bay / Peterhead Cable Landfall

Under construction

EGL2’s Scottish landfall connects its subsea cable to the onshore route serving the Boddam converter. Horizontal directional drilling and cable landing are separate construction packages from the converter buildings. Prysmian is the EGL2 cable supplier; the NKT works at Rattray Head belong to a different link.

What this link contributes

This asset provides a route for electricity to move between networks or strengthens the network carrying that electricity. Its capacity cannot be added to wind, solar or power-station capacity as though it were another generator.

Eastern Green Link 2

Converter stations, cable manufacture, offshore installation, landfall works and grid energisation can progress at different times. The status above describes the documented project stage rather than assuming all work packages are complete.

This is a component of its parent project. The marker is a site reference, not an entrance or individual equipment position.

Markers identify sites, published points or labelled connection areas. Markers are not site boundaries or entrances. EGL2’s additional outlines and route layers are explicitly identified in the developer’s map data.
