Netherton / Longside 400 kV and 132 kV AC Substations

Under construction

The two AC substations at Netherton Hub support generation and storage connections and onward transmission. They form a different infrastructure package from the site’s HVDC converters. Shared site civil works are underway; detailed electrical approvals and energisation follow separately.

What this link contributes

This asset provides a route for electricity to move between networks or strengthens the network carrying that electricity. Its capacity cannot be added to wind, solar or power-station capacity as though it were another generator.

Converter stations, cable manufacture, offshore installation, landfall works and grid energisation can progress at different times. The status above describes the documented project stage rather than assuming all work packages are complete.

Project location

This is a component of its parent project. Dashed circles show an approximate area only; the exact component position is not verified.
