π Project Overview
London Array was the world's largest offshore wind farm from 2013 to 2017, and remains one of the most visited offshore wind sites in the world. Located in the outer Thames Estuary, it is visible from the Kent coast and has become an iconic part of the UK's offshore wind story. The project's success with 3.6 MW turbines proved the technology and attracted further international investment.

Phase 2 was abandoned partly due to concerns about impact on Red-throated Diver habitat in the Outer Thames SPA. This established the precedent for ornithological impact being a decisive factor in offshore wind planning.
